It's a flexible tube for the probe just remember to seal the end to stop the levelling compound getting in and locking in the probe. If this happens you won't be able to change the probe if it goes wrong.

I use the conduit for the probe on the heatmats I use. This means if the probe fails it can be changed in under ten minutes instead of removing tiles and damaging the heatmat.
Just put a piece of tape on the probe wire were it enters the conduit and if you ever need to change it you can mark the new probe at the same length and this will give you a marker so you know when the probe is in the right spot in the conduit.

Its a bit to big in diameter I buy my own that is smaller, you will use less levelling compound
